Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum
The Smithsonian established the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum to honour musical pioneers from the 1930s to the 1970s. There are seven entertaining galleries to visit, each with a 100-song digital audio tour. Outfits, more than 30 instruments, and other music-related objects, including the costumes used by the early stars, are among the other displays. The early years of music in Memphis, Sun Records, soul music, rural music and culture, as well as disco, are all covered in the featured galleries.
The famed Gibson Guitar Factory, which provides a fascinating insight at the production of these superb instruments, is another Memphis music site worth seeing.
